Rhivi, Height Chart
Character design for my ongoing Malazan Book of the Fallen personal project.
In this peace I wanted to create a (Stout) Halfling re-skin for my Dungeons and Dragons game. For any Malazan fans the real Rhivi are humans, but I wanted to build on my earlier designs of hair Hominids. The Eres are another speices from the Malazan books which gave me a good grounding within the setting for the design.
Though I originally selected the reference model for her awesome clothing I ended up deciding that the arid, plains dwelling Rhivi could get away with not wearing cloths, as when I placed her alongside the taller spcies I had already painted, she looked too human and disappeared into the crowd.
thanks to @Reference.Pictures on the left for thier awesome refference picture. I had to warp the proportions subtly to make her 3 foot tall.
The hairy shoulder pads and dangling fur on the model got confusing with the characters own fur, so I tried some variaitions.
I like keeping a record of my work in my Sketchbook as well as digitally.
